This is an overview of the steps that have to be taken before you can start a calculation.&lt;br /&gt;

The easiest way is to start on the top of the tree on the left side of the screen. The first point is to define the component. &lt;br /&gt;

* You must define the [[1D:Dialog_Assembly | assembly]] of the component (i.e. its layer sequence and the layer thicknesses) and you must enter the [[1D:Dialog_MaterialData | material data]] for the individual layers. The material data may be entered by hand or taken from the [[1D:Dialog_MaterialDatabase | material database]]. Alternatively, a predefined assembly may be read from the [[1D:Dialog_ConstructionDatabase | construction database]].&amp;lt;BR&amp;gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&amp;amp;nbsp;&amp;lt;BR&amp;gt;&lt;br /&gt;
* You may specify [[1D:Dialog_HygrothermalSources | heat, moisture or air change sources]] within the component.&amp;lt;BR&amp;gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&amp;amp;nbsp;&amp;lt;BR&amp;gt;&lt;br /&gt;
* You may select [[1D:Dialog_Assembly | monitoring positions]], for which you want to be given the [[Glossary:Glossary-1D | courses]] of temperature and relative humidity (the two surfaces of the building component are always monitored).&amp;lt;BR&amp;gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&amp;amp;nbsp;&amp;lt;BR&amp;gt;&lt;br /&gt;
* You must specify the [[1D:Dialog_Orientation | orientation, the inclination and the height]] of the building component.&amp;lt;BR&amp;gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&amp;amp;nbsp;&amp;lt;BR&amp;gt;&lt;br /&gt;
* You must select the [[1D:Dialog_SurfaceTransferCoefficients | surface transfer coefficients]] for heat, vapor and liquid transport.&amp;lt;BR&amp;gt;&lt;br /&gt;
